Adolescent Counseling

There are many reasons that can fuel the use of drugs and alcohol among teens that need to be addressed. Peer pressure can be overwhelming for young people and it's understandable that a young person needs to fit in with their friends but there is a difference between healthy and unhealthy peer pressure. Struggling in school academically lowers a young person's self-esteem and makes them feel bad about themselves. Problems in the home with parents or siblings can cause depression and sometimes anger. It's important to have healthy communication and relationships with family and during the teenage years, sometimes this isn't easy. Divorce, separation, abuse, depression, ADHD, illness and death are also problems many young people go through that need to be addressed.

Our licensed counselors understand the problems that parents and teenagers go through during these trying years and we also realize that situations that take place in our lives can affect our actions and behaviors. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy CBT is very successful treatment for anyone letting go of negative thinking and behavior patterns. CBT helps us to change unhealthy thoughts and beliefs, unhealthy habits, and undesirable behaviors. We can help your teenager understand the seriousness involved with substance abuse, develop healthy skills to deal with peer pressure, and cope with sadness or loss in their life, and to increase their self-esteem.
